GTA 6 Map Regions: All 6 Areas of Leonida and What the Extended Look Showed

The six official regions of GTA VI's Leonida: what Rockstar says about each one, what the Extended Look showed and what is still unconfirmed.

Rockstar's official GTA VI site names six places in Leonida: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga.
Each region has a short official description, but Rockstar has not published a full map, an official map size or region borders.
The Extended Look, captured in-game on PS5, spends most of its runtime in Vice City, with wetland boating, bridges, beaches and an airport sequence.

Overview

What this guide is for

Rockstar names six places in the state of Leonida, each with a short official description on the GTA VI website. The 26-minute Extended Look released on August 27, 2026 is the longest footage of the world so far, but most of it is set in Vice City. This guide covers what Rockstar says about each region, what the footage actually shows and what is still unconfirmed. For the visual overview, open our GTA VI map page; for the city itself, read Leonida and Vice City.

What are the six regions of the GTA 6 map?

GTA VI is set in Leonida, Rockstar's fictional take on Florida, and the official site names six places in it. Here is each one in a line, based on Rockstar's own descriptions:

The clickable overview of these regions lives on our GTA VI map page. This guide goes deeper into the evidence behind each one.

  • Vice City: the Miami-inspired city Rockstar calls "the sun and fun capital of America", from Ocean Beach to Little Cuba and the VC Port.
  • Leonida Keys: a "tropical archipelago" of easy island life next to "beautiful and dangerous waters".
  • Grassrivers: the wetlands, a "primordial expanse" of gators and mangroves.
  • Port Gellhorn: "Leonida's forgotten coast", a faded vacation spot of cheap motels and shut-down attractions.
  • Ambrosia: an industrial town "in the heart of Leonida" shaped by a sugar refinery and a local biker gang.
  • Mount Kalaga: a national landmark on the state's northern border with hunting, fishing and off-road trails.

What did the Extended Look show of the map?

Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premiered on Netflix on August 27, 2026, and Rockstar says it was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5. It is the longest look at Leonida in motion, but it is a Vice City showcase first: streets, interiors, highways, rooftops, nightlife, the beach and aerial views of the skyline.

Outside the city, the footage adds slower water travel through dense wetland vegetation, fanboats, kayaking, drives across bridges, dirt-bike and road racing, and an airport sequence. Rockstar's Extended Look page does not name any region, and none of the 14 chapters in our scene-by-scene breakdown is identifiably set in Ambrosia, Port Gellhorn or Mount Kalaga.

Every frame below is in the Extended Look gallery, and the side activities are listed in our activities guide.

  • 08:56: driving across Leonida's bridges.
  • 12:24: the Vice City skyline from a rooftop.
  • 17:29: kayaking through Leonida's waterways.
  • 18:28: a crowded Vice City beach.
  • 18:56: parachuting above the Vice City skyline.
  • 19:13 to 19:36: an airport lounge and a private plane on the runway.

Vice City

Rockstar sums Vice City up as "the glamour, hustle, and greed of America captured in a single city". Its official write-up names the art deco hotels of Ocean Beach, the panaderías of Little Cuba, the Tisha-Wocka flea market and the VC Port, "the cruise ship capital of the world". Ultimate Edition material also places shops in Stockyard, a district Dazed's Rockstar feature describes as based on Miami's Wynwood.

Vice City is also where the Extended Look spends most of its time, from Lucia's apartment to rooftop parties, store robberies and police chases. For the city's setting and its role in the state, read our Leonida and Vice City guide.

    Leonida Keys

Rockstar's description: "Life in this tropical archipelago isn't flashy but it's easy", with a warning that you are "right on the doorstep of some of the most beautiful and dangerous waters in all of America". The Keys are also part of Jason's backstory: his official bio says he ended up there working for local drug runners, and Brian, the smuggler who lets Jason live in one of his properties, runs a boat yard in the Keys.

The resemblance to the real Florida Keys is an inference, not a Rockstar statement. Rockstar has not said how many islands the chain has or how far it extends, and the Extended Look does not identify any shot as the Keys. Jason's background is covered on our Jason and Lucia page.

      Grassrivers

Rockstar's tagline is "Welcome to the Wetlands", and its description warns that "the gators may be the most famous attraction, but there are far deadlier predators and weirder discoveries among the mangroves". It is Leonida's counterpart to the Everglades, although that comparison is ours, not Rockstar's.

Outside Vice City, this is the landscape the Extended Look supports best: the footage shows slower water travel through dense vegetation and fanboats, the airboats most associated with the wetlands. Rockstar does not say which region those shots come from, so Grassrivers is the likely location, not a confirmed one.

        Port Gellhorn

Rockstar calls Port Gellhorn "Leonida's forgotten coast": "cheap motels, shut-down attractions, and empty strip malls" in a "once-popular vacation spot" whose new economy is "fueled by malt liquor, painkillers, and truck stop energy drinks". The official text even suggests the transport: "Jump on a dirt bike and hold onto your wallet."

Despite the name, Rockstar's description is about a faded resort coast, not a cargo port. The Extended Look includes dirt-bike racing, but Rockstar does not tie that footage to Port Gellhorn.

          Ambrosia

Ambrosia is the inland industrial region. Rockstar's text: "In the heart of Leonida, American industry and old school values still reign supreme — whatever the cost. The Allied Crystal sugar refinery provides the jobs, while the local biker gang provides almost everything else."

No chapter of the Extended Look is identifiably set there. What is official, what is inference and what is still unknown is covered in our Ambrosia region guide.

            Mount Kalaga

Rockstar's description: "A national landmark up against the state's northern border, Mount Kalaga offers prime hunting, fishing, and off-road trails." In the surrounding backwoods, it adds, "hillbilly mystics and paranoid radicals live far from the prying eyes of the government."

That makes Mount Kalaga's description the most precise official clue about where a region sits on the map. Ultimate Edition material mentions it as well: the '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy is pitched for "the backwoods of Mount Kalaga and beyond". Fishing appears in the Extended Look's activities montage, but Rockstar does not say where it was filmed.

How big is the GTA 6 map?

Rockstar has not published an official map size. The figures circulating online come from two kinds of source: fan measurements of trailer footage, and secondhand accounts of Rockstar previews, such as a content creator's claim, reported by Vice on August 28, 2026, that Leonida is about three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2's world. Neither is a Rockstar statement, so treat any multiplier as an estimate.

                What is still unconfirmed?

Rockstar has not released a full map, region borders, the road network between regions, fast-travel rules or the number of enterable interiors. No official map came with the Extended Look or with the Launch Trailer released on October 15, 2026.

Fan-made maps that place each region on a full outline of the state are community reconstructions, sometimes built on leaked material. They can be useful, but they are not official. The definitive answer arrives on November 19, 2026, when GTA VI launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S; follow the release-date tracker for the schedule.
