Overview
Why this update matters
Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look is the clearest answer yet to what GTA 6 actually feels like in motion. We reviewed the official 4K master scene by scene and organized the 26-minute presentation into 14 timestamped chapters, with frames documenting the interface, robberies, police systems, activities and Jason and Lucia’s partnership. This page separates what the footage proves, what Rockstar has stated and what remains interpretation.
The short version: what the Extended Look confirms
The biggest change is not one isolated mechanic. It is how smoothly GTA VI moves between ordinary life, mission setup, open-world travel and cinematic action. Jason walks through Lucia's apartment, takes food from the fridge, heads into the city and gets pulled into events without the presentation constantly announcing a new mode.
Rockstar also shows that the two-protagonist structure is active gameplay rather than a story-only device. Missions can place Jason and Lucia together or apart, the inactive partner continues fighting or driving, and control can move between them during the same sequence.

Jason and Lucia: switching, teamwork and separate routes
The footage shows rapid switches when the pair are close and the wider aerial transition familiar from GTA V when they are separated. One police chase lets Lucia drive while Jason shoots from the vehicle; later, the presentation moves from Jason's firefight to a message exchange and then into Lucia's point of view.
This is presented as single-player control with an AI partner, not confirmation of campaign co-op. The practical difference from GTA V is that the pair appear designed to work as a unit inside missions, not merely occupy separate story threads.
Combat, weapons and the focus ability
Gunfights use cover, movement around vehicles and quick weapon pickups from fallen enemies. During one encounter, the action slows and targets display colored weak areas. The footage strongly presents this as an aiming or focus ability, although Rockstar has not published its final name or full rules.
The weapon interface is cleaner than GTA V's and the leads appear to carry individual loadouts. The showcase also includes contextual close combat and an on-screen choice during Lucia's fight, suggesting that some confrontations can branch through short interaction prompts.
Police, six wanted stars and losing the search
The six-star wanted scale is visible again. More importantly, the minimap uses a search area rather than placing every police unit directly on the map. That changes escape from following icons to reading where officers believe the suspects are.
Clothing and face coverings are shown around crimes, and one escape involves abandoning and burning a getaway car before changing vehicles. The video supports the idea that identity, outfit and vehicle choice matter to the search, but it does not explain how long police memory lasts or whether every disguise has a numerical effect.
Robberies, jobs and a more physical open world
Jason and Lucia take work from different clients, enter a deal that goes wrong and split the roles in robberies. One can hold up a location while the other waits as the driver. The footage also shows apartment interaction, food, exercise, social feeds and crowds reacting to nearby events.
Across Leonida, the presentation includes road and dirt-bike races, fanboats, personal watercraft, kayaks or canoes, base jumping and a moment of animal interaction. Some shots may belong to missions or cinematics rather than repeatable side activities, so this page only treats a feature as fully confirmed when the player interface or sustained control makes that clear.
Leonida, density and the base PS5 question
Vice City is shown from street level, interiors, highways, rooftops and the air, while the wetlands add slower water travel and dense vegetation. Long views during Lucia's jump and the character-switch transitions make world scale part of the demonstration rather than just background scenery.
Rockstar's confirmed point is that the footage was captured on PlayStation 5. It has not confirmed the frame rate, resolution target, performance modes, Xbox differences or a PC version. Those remain open technical questions, even when the footage looks smooth.
What the community is checking frame by frame
The first discussion wave is concentrating on the speed of character switching, the return of six wanted stars, police search behavior, disguises, the focus meter and how often interiors remain accessible outside missions. Players are also comparing HUD states to determine which shots are fully playable and which are transitions into cinematics.
Those are useful leads, not automatic facts. We will add timestamped frames as each point is verified against the official master video. Claims from previews, creators or community posts will stay labeled and will not be blended into what Rockstar itself showed.
What Rockstar still has not answered
The video does not settle the final map boundary, launch-day multiplayer, GTA Online progression, economy balance, difficulty options, performance modes or a PC release date. It also does not provide the complete rules for police recognition, relationship consequences or the focus ability.
The confirmed release remains November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Follow the release-date tracker for schedule changes and the trailers hub for every official video in order.
